Bringing Play Based Education To Lower Manhattan

In Downtown New York -- Education Inspired by the Waldorf Approach

Welcome! We have created a unique Preschool and Kindergarten in Downtown Manhattan, providing Parent-Child Classes, Bridge, Nursery and Kindergarten programs for parents and children from birth to age 7. Waldorf education is a worldwide movement, with over 1000 pre-schools in 58 countries. We're thrilled to bring more learning based on Waldorf education to New York City and particularly to downtown families, who will appreciate its respect for each child as an individual and its emphasis on creativity and learning. Based on the ideas of the scientist and philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf education views each child as unique, with a body, soul, and spirit capable of thinking, feeling, and willing. Steiner believed that in the right environment, children can mature to their highest potential. At the New Amsterdam Early Childhood Center, we provide an environment that meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of young children from birth to age 7, while recognizing children's individual spirits.
