Grade School Classes Beginning with 1st Grade in Fall of 2014
Welcome! We have created a unique School in Downtown Manhattan, providing Parent-Child Classes, Bridge, Nursery and Kindergarten programs and our pioneering First Grade class in 2014-15. Waldorf education is a worldwide movement, with over 2000 pre-schools in 5 continents and over 1000 schools in 60 countries. We're thrilled to bring more learning based on Waldorf education to New York City and particularly to downtown families, who will appreciate its respect for each child as an individual and its emphasis on creativity and learning. Based on the ideas of the scientist and philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf education views each child as unique, with a body, soul, and spirit capable of thinking, feeling, and willing. Steiner believed that in the right environment, children can mature to their highest potential. At the New Amsterdam School we provide an environment that meets the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of children, while recognizing their individual spirits.
