RIE Parent-Infant & Parent-Toddler Classes "An atmosphere of healthy relating between you and your baby is the goal." RIE Parent-Infant and Parent-Toddler Guidance classes encourage babies to be attentive, active, exploring and aware of self and others. Facilitated by a certified RIE Associate, small groups of parents and babies come together in a relaxing, child-friendly environment to take pleasure in unfolding development and play. Classes offer individualized attention to encourage babies and toddlers to become secure, active, and confident. During infant/toddler play sessions we observe, discuss and gather key insights. Topics of discussion may include: 1) Reading your child's cues and how best to respond, 2) The importance of play in children’s learning, 3) Fostering pro social, physical and intellectual development and discipline based on your child's readiness, 4) Integrating RIE principles into daily life in and out of the home.

Infant Care Workshops
A mix of lecture, observation, practicum and discussion, the toddler and infant care workshops focus on the actual nuts and bolts of parenting – diapering, bathing and dressing, and feeding. Participants will learn how the mundane interactions of care time can help build an infant’s sense of security and self, as well as fortify the parent-child relationship. The primary focus will be on 1) learning to slow down, relax and pay attention while caring for your baby, 2) transforming routine care time chores into psychologically fulfilling and cognitively stimulating interactions, 3) observing your baby's cues and signals and 4) creating a dialogue between you and your baby during infant care. These workshops are for adults only, please. 2011 Workshop dates and times TBD.
